Siri for Mac

So much great stuff from this post by John Gruber

There is a feature from the iPhone that I would love to see ported to the Mac, but which is not present in Mountain Lion: Siri. There’s either a strategic reason to keep Siri iPhone 4S-exclusive, or it’s a card Apple is holding to play at a later date.

Put my money down on the latter.

On Siri's Data Usage

Gary Morganthaler, reporting for Forbes:

Arieso presents no data to support their claim that Siri causes the increase in iPhone 4S data usage. Most likely, Arieso committed a logical fallacy which, in grammar school, was called “post hoc, ergo propter hoc” — that is, “ after the fact, therefore, because of the fact.”  In other words, Siri is new and associated with the iPhone 4S; therefore, it must be the cause of this increased traffic. It’s an appealing argument, but it doesn’t hold water.

Siri Reliability

Marco Arment:

Anecdotally, I’ve had about a 50% failure rate recently.

Ben Brooks:

Same here...

This hasn't been my experience at all. Maybe because I'm in Canada, I'm not sure. But I've only found Siri to be getting better and better. I has begun to understand nicknames and recognizes people better than ever. Still, curious.
